Does the following torrent sites open on your system?

Thanks for your response, everyone. I also figured it must be something of that sort. They were working fine until 3 days ago. All of a sudden, they're not opening. If the intent is to block torrent sites, it's a bit strange that they have still left kickass, monova.org, etc. torrent sites accessible. I'm confused. Is it SAFE to call the ISP call center (where I usually lodge complain when there's an internet connection problem) and ask them why I'm unable to access specific websites (the ones I listed in the first post)? Or would it be a risky step since I guess it's illegal to download by torrents?

Yes, it's safe. The ISP's are only blocking their paying customers from sites because they're being forced to by non-paying courts/governments. The blocks harm the ISP's businesses--if you stop downloading movies you won't need to spend so much money on your internet package--they hate them as much as you do.

As per the latest developments, I'm able to access the site after reloading the page a couple of times (ranges from 3 to 15 times approx.). The reloading process ain't pleasant, though. And sometimes when it finally loads, it doesn't load properly. Hope this issue will be solved sooner than later.

Agree with revolver. Same issue.

Just thought i'll place a few observations. Perhaps it'll be of use to anyone else who has similar problem ... in India.

1) The "blank page" occurs with a few ISPs (2+), atleast in some cities. Have seen some posts on other forums.
The blank page contains the following HTML code. Its is the same for all the torrent sites listed by revolver.
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN">
<html><head<title></title></head><body> <!--This is a comment. Comments are not displayed in the browser--> </body></html>
PS: Unlike last year, there has been no government order to ban torrent sites. So am not sure ISPs here are doing it.

2) The HTTP request/response exchange seems normal (from wireshark), except somehow the response seems to be the above. I've also tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS.
Q: Is it possible for an ISP to do this ? Perhaps trap the HTTP Get response and change the content ?
As revolver mentions, after hitting 'reload' a few times the homepage comes up (without the images); works for a click or two and then its back to "blank page". Managing with https for now.

3) I understand 'tracert' is not meant to diagnose this problem, but just for the record, it consistently timesout within a "ntt" network (or perhaps its next-hop). For other torrent sites, it stops inside some other carrier network.

With HTTP, yes. It is entirely possible for an ISP to proxy all HTTP requests and insert or entirely replace the response.

But if you are using HTTPS they can't see inside the response to make alterations.

They can still see what server you are connecting to, but unless they manage to spoof the SSL certificate of the server you are trying to connect to, they can't see or touch the contents.

Thanks kjf. Many here report blocking of torrent sites. If it comes to the worst, there's always the piratebrowser. But just don't understand this half-baked action from the ISPs.
