Use a better client, deluge, qBittorent. Pretty much anything is better than bitcomet.

Now it just closes and comes up saying " Not enough memory. "

Ok, i will try another client.

Not much I can do without a remote diagnostics, so - please - tell me more.

Windows? Available memory? Other programs running? Disk size? Available space?
Most important: What do you find out when checking your disks? Bad sectors, errors ?

Happened to me to have some file attributes wrong; NT introduced permissions for users/groups, and it can be messy.
Basically, I got permissions to read but not to write my torrent files. Maybe you need to check that too.

Note that just changing client will not solve small or bad memory -
If you run Win7 on 1GB RAM, or torrent while Photoshopping a large image, nothing in this world can help you.

Yours seem to be adequate - So check the files too.

I restarted my PC to ensure there's no programmes running in the back and it still did it.
Bit Comet has been working for over a year so i don't understand why its doing this

I am trying Deluge now.

Deluge seems to be working, its about 60% through now with no error however it is slower d/l speed than bitcomet.

I checked the last virus scan and it was today, could windows defenders virus scan have caused the problem with bitcomet ?

Sounds like Politux was right then. Thanks, Poli!

Apps usually open files in Read-only/Shared mode and you should've been notified in case of detections; in that case the AV would interfere.
Those files would be moved to the quarantine and then further attempts to write/save them to disk would be blocked.
If your AV shows no sign of doing it (check the quarantine and/or message logs), nothing to worry about.
