Demonoid well and truly knackered right now
#1
Well I've seen it bad there before but right now at the moment it's the worst I've seen in a long time. Talk about everything is just completely knackered to bits. I have loads of shares on there and the whole lot you can't even access. Everybody is in the same boat. Not even possible to log into the site anymore and access your own account.

It made me laugh the other day this cocky arse that goes on the forum was going on about Demonoid dressing it up so much and then running TPB down saying that TPB will be going legit soon. Saying that because people are finding it hard to upload to TPB. Talk about daft talk or what, I had a run in a while ago with this guy he is full of himself. I won't say who but still though, just cause you can't upload to Pirate Bay doesn't mean it's going legit and also I don't have a problem uploading when it's working works fine through TOR really. I know that also with TPB there's the problem I have myself where things don't seem to scrape properly. The whole scrape thing is a mess really. Don't know why but my shares seem to be hugely unpopular on TPB and sometimes when uploading something you don't even get a scrape at all just a blank scrape instead. Yes it's a mess and has been now for years. Demonoid is in a right state at the moment. I think now the worst I've seen it since the big downtime a few years ago. Unless of course there's been some massive huge attack. I hope the owner can fix it anyway. I have all kinds of stuff loaded into their site, taken me such a huge amount of time to work on all that as well. Oh well... Torrent sites are okay when they are working but when they go down it makes me feel bad really. I'm making plans for the future but can't seem to get my plans to fit in with a working site as there's always some kind of hitch going on whether things aren't showing up or just plain account madness like now. Just a huge mess..

Never got into Demonoid. But one thing I've learned over the years is not to put all your eggs in one basket. Public sites come and go, except for the glorious Bay of course. Smile

I've been screwed multiple times when private sites when down, it is the nature of the beast.

The world is breaking apart, guess soon there'll be another global conflict or depression.
Demonoid was pleasantly nice and helpful to me a few years ago, but who can, and wants to, live forever, care endlessly?

Quote:As most of you know, Demonoid is again facing server-side problems which are normally not a big deal when there is someone to fix it. Unfortunately, Deimos(administrator) is still not with us since almost last 2 months and just periodically logs in once every 2-3 weeks for few minutes.
We don't know why Deimos is not on Demonoid, but if I have to guess those are real-life issues and Demonoid in this moment is not a priority. I really hope that he will return in next 1-2 months and keep this place up and running like he did last year (we actually had only 2 minor downtimes for an entire year)
Right now, we can only wait as Demonoid is hosted on 6 continents and if one of the locations have some minor issue, the whole site will face partial issues. And like last time those are very minor issues, which take several minutes to be fixed, but not until Deimos is here.

All torrent sites are outlaw organizations, so there's always likely to be a "hitch going on", and TPB can never go legit because pirates are outlaws.  What would you call it, "The Goody Two-Shoes Bay"?

How were you screwed?  You didn't pay a membership fee, did you?

I guess you can call TPB - Tor Pirate Bay...  I'm thinking it may be better for those who can't pay for a VPN at the moment, IMHO... But I guess those who never actually search before posting will still ask how, and why it's down. And I understand the necessity for ease of use so people can upload...So I guess nevermind what I just said. but...It really kinda makes sense to use it through Tor as a safer way.  It's not conventional, but really neither is torrenting. If you can make the leap and do that, you can make another smaller leap and use Tor.

Admittedly I'm kinda decent for a pleb, but compared to people here I'm a technological retard. It's the people's knowledge here that I adapt to my own. I guess if I can do it, anyone can. I just feel bad people asking why TPB is down, knowing that they are missing out on UP/DOWN loading when it's actually available...

Building up ratio and then the site closes.

Trouble with Demonoid is there's only 1 guy that fixes it and according to what they said he's having time out due to family problems.  Could mean anything really like maybe a death or perhaps illness.  I know how that feels.  I guess like they keep saying it's not Priority when things like that happen.  Only he has the keys to the car and nobody else is allowed so they don't end up knackering it more than it is now.  I know how that feels if you're good at something like making a torrent site then fair enough but to trust somebody else to look after it for you when the tables are turned is even harder.  I'm guessing it's the same with TPB and that people are very careful who they allow to mess with the site's code.  I'm not sure what's going to happen to Demonoid at the moment it's a very good site though not completely Private like people think it's actually Semi Private meaning that you can sign up for an account if you want but also you can still access the torrents in a public sense just like Pirate Bay and still download without having an account it's just that if you want to upload you really need to sign up.  The thing I like about Demonoid is being able to put really good Torrent descriptions which is what I do.  I can't possibly fit in what I do at Demonoid on TPB because it won't allow for such big detailed descriptions like Demonoid can.  Which is the reason I use it.  I don't think that Demonoid gets a massive amount of hits but it's there all the time usually and gets a fair bit of traffic but it seems to me that when I upload to Demonoid and TPB it's TPB that is the difference maker it's just that with TPB you tend to find that lots of people download stuff when you upload something new and you get lots of leechers but that's all they are really just leechers and they aren't interested in giving back and when they've got they ditch simple as that.  I've had that happen to me many times now where on Demonoid on the other hand you might find that people are more dedicated to certain uploaders like me but it's not enough really that's why things seem to seem like they're dying off quick because of all the hit and runners that exist.  This is why I have to use seedboxes myself because of the sheer size of what I upload.  Without the seedboxes it wouldn't be possible and all my stuff would fail.  They don't fail though I just upload to Demonoid and TPB and that seems like enough usually but because I serve such huge amounts of data each month I manage to provide so much really to the community that people are always grabbing stuff it just goes on and on.  Yes shame about Demonoid at the moment might have to just rely on TPB for now until Demonoid eventually gets fixed up again.

Probably he's trying to help Winston get sober and get to work on this anniversary thing. Maybe after that W helps D.
Not that I know any of them or what they do or be ungrateful for it. But birds sing things, and like a pirate's parrot, I repeat.
