DCP Help
#1
Hi, is there anyone here that's familiar with DCPs (Digital Cinema Package) and how to watch them without the keys?

I have physical access to most if not all the upcoming movie releases, the files on the HDD are in .mxf format.
The audio files are separated from the video files and both the audio and video files are broken into parts, i.e. part 1-5.
The size of these files are sometimes between 100GB - 500GB.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are the drives encrypted? I have gotten access to some releases but most of them are encrypted, not sure if you can crack the encryption. I would possibly try a brute force attack but totally not sure how everything would work out.

Hi, yes they are encrypted. I'm not too knowledgeable about breaking encryption, etc. I am just looking to see if anyone out there could crack it, if I provided the files.

I'm sure someone can do it. If by any case you provided the files make sure it is a private torrent. PM me the torrent file if you make one

How and who unlocks the drives for opening day?

Sure, I can make a torrent file.

We request the keys from the studio, they then issue the keys. Each cinema gets a different key, which depends on how many screening there are per day and for how long they will be showing the movie. Also, there is a screening before the actual release to give the movie a rating, a key is also issued just for this.

Not sure if I explained it properly for everyone to understand lol

Do the drives stay unlocked the whole day or just for the screening day? Example if the drive is unlocked for the rating review people does it stay constantly unlocked.

Sorry for the dead slow reply.

It depends, the keys issued by the studios can unlock the drive for whatever time period the cinema and distributor have agreed. It can be 1 day, 1 month, even 1 screening.

If the drives auto-lock I would suggest you screen-record the movies and upload. https://obsproject.com/
