Converting ISO into AVI, MP4, etc

I'm not sure where to post this so I'm posting it in General

I've been downloading some old torrents that have been ripped into ISO.

I've tried using any video converter and it just seems to hang my computer or give me corrupt files.    Is there a better or easier way to convert ISO to a better file format?

Windows 10 can "mount" the iso file, just right click the iso and there should be a mount option. The contents of the iso, which should
have the exact same structure as a DVD, will be created on a new drive letter (in my case it creates the content on drive "G").

You can then manipulate the content just as you would as if you had ripped a DVD to your hard drive, but you will probably have to copy
the folders to another location first, because the mounted contents are virtual. If you do not have Windows 10, download an iso program.

EDIT: Actually, much less complicated is just use the free program 7-zip to extract the iso content.

Yes, Like @NrKNrK said, you can open ISO file with 7-zip, WinRAR, Daemon Tool Lite, or similiar extraction tool software if you run Windows 7, but if you run Windows 8 and up, you just double click ISO file and it will opened in File Explorer.

i assume that ISO file you mean in here contain video, so it might be ISO format for Video-CD (VCD), DVD-Video or BD/Blu-ray disc.
because it from old torrent, i guess it will be VCD or DVD-Video.

if it is VCD, when you open ISO, it will displayed like this:

your movie inside MPEGAV folder and have *.DAT extension
copy and paste DAT file(s) to your HDD and you will be able to play without converting it into AVI, MP4, etc.
use VLC or K-Lite Mega Codec Pack to open *.DAT files

if it is DVD, when you open ISO, it will displayed like this:

your movie inside VIDEO_TS folder and have *.VOB extension
copy and paste VOB file(s) to your HDD and you will be able to play without converting it into AVI, MP4, etc.
use VLC or K-Lite Mega Codec Pack to open *.VOB files

in this method, i use daemon tool lite to mount ISO file.
other method: if you use extraction tool (WinRAR or 7-Zip), just extract your DAT or VOB file(s) inside ISO file.

I like to upload old stuff to archive so converting it to an mp4 works much better

You can also use MakeMKV and mux it into one mkv file with everything from the ISO.
