MakeMKV does not select all the audio streams by default as ahown in the image. You have to open each title and make sure you select all the streams if you want to keep them. The DTS-HD MA streams can be several gigs and that may be where you're seeing your loss.

The original size is 37GB BDMV

I've selected ALL audio settings I then convert with MakeMKV but its still loosing 15GBish?

See the 3 screen shots I've attached.

Cheers,

Trotter.

The original size of the audio/video content on the disk is not 37GB it is 20.3GB. You can see that in your first screenshot.

From 20.3 across multiple files to 19.8 in a single file is little enough "loss" to be put down to the inefficiencies of the file storage system.

The real question then is what accounts for the 37GB windows is reporting. Most likely it is just padding. I'm not intimately familiar with blu-rays but i do know that certain console games always used to appear to fill entire DVD's even though when they were ripped the actual game content was in many cases very much less.

If storage is not a issue, why not copy BluRay to a .iso and play it with VLC media player? The quality will be exactly the same, with no loss in size, but the only problem will be, you will be able to play your files only on PC.

You can use DVDFab to create virtual BluRay drives, and then use WinISO to convert all the files in the BluRay drive to a .iso

DVDFab = http://www.dvdfab.cn/virtual-drive.htm
WinISO = http://www.winiso.com/support/tutorials/...o-iso.html

If you still want to go along with mkv, you can also use DVDFab to convert BluRay that you ripped to your HDD into any file you want.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Check out CloneDrive as a alternative to creating virtual drives, including BluRay.

Well spotted supermod.

I think that's answered my questions, Ill carry on ripping with Slysoft HD to local HDD then use MakeMKV.

Cheers guy`s for all your reply`s.

And please, when ripping and sharing remember to include all sub`s and language's as I know not everyone`s speaks English so we can all enjoy films in our own language's Smile

I hope I'm not considered hijacking, but has MakeMKV been beta and free since forever?

Hearsay tells me that the program was going to be commercial sometime soon.

Wrong?

makemkv has been in beta for years now, but i have no clue since when.

i'm not sure what you mean by it going "commercial", but you can purchase makemkv (non-beta) for about 50 euros

not a lot of companies would be interested in buying freeware/shareware, but that's just me.
