Can someone explain Giganews?
#1
I emailed their customer service but they won't respond till AFTER you sign up and pay which seems shady. Does Giga have a reader, server, and search all part of the package? I know with some you need to pay this one for the access to the search index, and this one for the server, and the other one for vpn. It looks like Giga has everything but I'm not sure. Right now Nzb leech is on my phone, I'm searching for free at binsearch, and have a no cc trial from usenet.nl

I think it's a newsgroup site.

They're normally used to post data like bulletin board systems, except it's on the Internet.

And normally, they demand a fee.

I think MS Outlook can download them.

This forum http://filesharingtalk.com/forum.php has an active newsgroup using community. You would be better off asking there.

Is it like a Ford/Chevy thing? That's Usenet so it can't be discussed on a torrent site?

No, it is like an apples/penguins thing.

You can ask a group of orchardists about aquatic, flightless birds but they're probably not going to be able to help you. You really would be better off asking a group of ornithologists.

But it's your life--feel free to wait around here with your fingers crossed for as long as you like.

Really? So torrent fans really never branch out? Like long before I got this lazy I used XDCC with IRC to download, and it's still my method of choice when I'm motivated simply because it's one direction, much faster, and the ISP can't tell what you're doing. I just checked out Usenet and though maybe some people here might have also. Most of us who've been around long enough used newsgroups before there was even an internet...

Sure people branch out but this is a small forum. I know most of the people here and none of them are usenet experts.

It has obviously escaped your notice but the only people who have replied to this thread so far, in spite of your repeated bumps, are dolly_cat who has never even heard of Giganews, RobertX who has heard of it but doesn't know anything specific and I, who knows that at least a few years ago it was one of the major legit services, but who has never used it or even thought about it for years.

You have already had the best advice you are going to get here. That you have chosen to ignore it is your problem.

You are, as I have already said, welcome to wait, quietly, but you are not welcome to continue wasting everyone's time whining about how people here should know stuff you don't even know yourself in spite of your self proclaimed long and wide ranging experience.

Do not reply to this thread unless it is to answer the question: "Does Giga have a reader, server, and search all part of the package?
