Can We Change The Way Upload Times Are Listed
#1
Like instead of the list times for when something was uploaded saying something like
" Uploaded Today 08:30 "

can you make it so that it says
" Uploaded 7 hours ago "

because to be honest none of us are in the same time zones and it's really
confusing and i dont even know which time zone TPB uses,
so it telling us "Uploaded Today 08:30" is pretty pointless to most

i think instead it should say for example
" Uploaded 7 hours ago ",
" Uploaded 8 hours ago "
" Uploaded 9 hours ago "
etc................

all the way until it says "Uploaded 23 hours ago".. then after the 23rd hour then
it could say " Uploaded Y-Day 08:30 "

But of course once you open the torrent it can say " Uploaded Today 08:30 " or whatever the actual time of the upload is

the current setting is limited only to an hour,

i would agree to extend it up to a day,

it will be a help on time zone issues

You've given yourself the solution in your post. Add a .txt file to your torrent with all relavent upload info etc. Then the downloader can grab that file and check, if they feel the need, to check when it was uploaded. You also have the option to put that info in the torrent description.

What is the significant difference between a torrent uploaded 7 hours ago and a torrent uploaded 8 hours ago (ie. your proposal)?

Nothing that I can think of.

What is the difference between a torrent uploaded "mins ago" and all other torrents (ie. the current system)?

Anybody with half a brain knows not to download such torrents (as there is a FAR higher chance of them being fakes than any other torrents.

What is the difference between a torrent uploaded any time "today" or "yesterday" and all other torrents (ie. the current system)?

Anyone who gives much thought to what they're doing will probably avoid such torrents to allow the seedTongueeer ratio to tilt in their favour before downloading.

What is more confusing--everyone being told that a given torrent (say this one was uploaded on a given date at a given time, or you being told that it was uploaded at 03:59am and me being told it was uploaded at 4:29pm?

Most people would say the former.

TPB is a Swedish site. It uses Central European Time. That won't change any time soon.

[Also, you can see the current server time in the footer on every page if you want to work out how long ago (or write a userscript to do it for you automatically.]
