Anyone a fan of Humphrey Bogart?

I know people think I'm weird because of my love of the past and that I watch pretty much only entertainment that's pre-19 i60.

But I'm wondering if I'm alone in my love of actors like Bogart and Gary Cooper?

There are many reasons we think you are weird... This reason had not occurred to me...

HAHAHAHAAHAHAH Nah, IF you want an honest answer we are all weird in our own ways. "Normal" is a word that can be subjective in nature. It's your innocent nature that can be subject to ridicule I suppose. Plus, I'm assuming you are not American since you just found out about the Beverly Hillbillies.

To answer your question. I like some history... WWII, the history of the mafia, the way things were, and the only way to remember the way things were is to watch the movies that showed what was in at the time.

Having said that, I can't say I watch older movies... NOt that I can't like them, but I just never got into them. I good example I can give is I'm watching Mad Men, which is a current show about the 50s and on...

Personally, I have a tendency to think that anyone who sees much in the current crop of airhead 'actors' are fu**ed in the head.

The crapification of our culture is forcing a march backwards in time for any grasp of art or the meaningful.

So yes, dear lady, there *is* a Santa Claus. As well as an African Queen.

I don't 'get' the humor in some movies these days. Yeah I'm old but it seems if you are not up on the social media scene a lot doesn't make sense. We live near the Alabama Hills/Lone Pine area where many western movies and series were shot. Kinda fun to watch an old John Wayne movie or Lone Ranger or Cisco Kid and see a location that you have been to. Of course 'Gunga Din' was shot there too.
Many old movies that were made did white wash history but they are still entertaining. Cartoons? Yep nothing beats a Rocky and Bullwinkle marathon or a Looney Tunes weekend.
Growing up in the black and white TV era with scratchy, edited films, it is fun to sit down and watch a fully restored movie. Heck missed a lot of movies sitting the the back row of the drive-in <wink-wink>.

I never could get into the show Mad Men.  Don't get me wrong because I loved the fashions but the plot really could be summed up as whisky, cigarettes and sex.

Well... I enjoy modern period dramas such as Poldark.  (As long as they're not "woke.")

Drive in movies were /are the best!

You can take any mediocre movie and show it on a giant screen in a drive-in and it becomes AWESOME!
