Anti-Virus Software Recommendations

Hey all.

Aside from switching from a Window$ machine to MAC or Linux....I am looking to get my hands on a good Anti-Virus. I don't care where to get it whether here on the TPB or a "free" solution.

Any Suggestions?

I have used Avast! Free version for years and am very happy, excellent protection, low on system resources. I suggest a "custom" installation, uncheck the google toolbar, uncheck the grime fighter, uncheck the browser cleanup tool and anything else in that same column when you install. In other words just install the core components.

Prior to Avast! I used Avira. So many viruses blew through ultimately a reformat was required.

(edit - I should also add that I keep Microsoft Windows Defender running. Although it uses slightly more system resources than Avast! it is excellent at detecting changes some software attempts to make to your computer. You then have the choice to prevent or allow those changes. These two products are all I use, well, aside from a firewall of course.)

I use Norton 360 on this computer, my mother has the free version of Avira on hers, and on the third machine, I have Clamwin.

Clamwin is an open source antivirus with no real time protection, but it is updated regulariy. The address is here: www.clamwin.org.

All in all, I love Norton 360, and its protection doesn't require much accept if you're using a trial, you just need a resetter to add more days on the trial every so and so days.

Hope this helps.

I use eset nod32, its the best antivirus so far, actually its the best when it comes to using with cracks or keygens. It is also light on system resources. Its product keys are available freely on the net or you can apply a crack, which will update new keys for you anytime you go to the internet. I hope it helps.

Try the combination of Avira with Immunet.

I have been using this combination for the past several months and my system is free from all forms of viruses, malwares and Trojans.

Avast has many alternative protection shields, boot-time scanning, a behavioural blocker, an online web site ratings plugin, script malware protection, and access to cloud-based protection. It's controversial whether or not their ratings plugin offers comparable levels to WOT, however the script malware protection will forestall bound browser exploits, a feature not offered in any of the opposite free AV's reviewed.

Avast is additionally comparatively lightweight on resources. However, do note that Avast needs a free registration to operate once thirty days, and also the default installation installs the Chrome browser unless you uncheck it.

Note that Comodo Firewall is the best firewall, also the Comodo Internet security includes a lot of great featuers specially the virtual desktop, HIPS & Sandboxing for blocking zero day threats, virtual browsing and the detection rate of its antivirus is awesome.
