Amazon echo dot to control lights farce
#1
watching my intelligent  ( IQ) brother in law set up an amazon echo dot and some philips hue lightbulbs so that you can talk to alexa and make them change colour over christmas taught me 1 thing..the worlds gone totally mad

what is the fucking point in installing listening devices in your own home just so you can do things like make light bulbs dim or change colour ?  use a fucking switch !

the amount of time and steps it took to install the app on a phone, get the devices to connect, install the hue app from philips etc was a bad joke

i wont buy any shitty amazon dot devices, its far far quicker to flick a switch on a wall or screw in a different colour lightbulb

then amazon music want to charge you monthly to play music on the device and they dont have a good list of artists to choose from

what a load of bullshit

I know it's kind of sad really now this world we live in and people actually think all this nonsense is good.

I won't be planning on buying any of that rubbish anytime soon...

Facebook literally is selling the Telescreen that spied on you from 1984. Not sure who is going to buy this.

My grandmother used to run chickens, snap their necks and pluck them by hand, then prepare everything on a wood fire. She got the milk from the cows and made the butter herself with a wood bucket - She had some exhausting, healthy days. At the time there were very few electric appliances, even light spots in houses.

Then we jump to a new era of language interfaces, eye-tracking, facial and intonation analysis - We have 3D printers and in time they will become synthesizers.

I can live with the farm but I feel better on air conditioning; I can live with the "automated mind-controlled virtual reality materializer" but I debate what we really do with our lives out of resolving specific problems and seeking comfort. The answer is dampening awareness and conscience.

To make it short, take your pill and do as they say; you'll accomplish nothing but damage yourself, individual.

i Just thought... our phones are becoming the be all and end all of everything we do, what a nightmare if you loose your phone or its stolen.

Time on a farm sounds nice Dueda, id rather light a candle than use wifi to control house lights

Happy new year ever one

It's obvious that soon enough every device, from satelittes to traffic lights to underwear, will be watching and listening to us, if not already.
When it's done to test and improve, which can't be avoided (there're beta testers for that), it's part of progress - Although it's an open invitation to abuse.
But also obviously, this is like cities, laws, and everything humans touch: Power, ego, greed, and sheeps. Filthy, abominable sheeps.

Find an old or broken microwave.
Remove fuse, plug in (for ground connection).

Deposit unused wireless devices and phones.

Beware: anything with an SSD drive cannot survive more than a few weeks uncharged.
