Am I The Only One That Hates MKV?

I like streaming video to my Xbox One and MKV isn't compatible. Why doesn't everyone just use MP4. It's universally compatible with everything!!! How hard is that? Why can't everyone be like YIFY!!

Dunno. But I sure as hell don't give a fuck about what plays on your Xbox.

MKV is free to use, MP4 isnt. Just like MP3, but if Frauhoffer would enforce their license agreements, they would have to sue the whole world Tongue

I personally like MKV - I think the picture quality and audio is much better compared to MP4. But then again, I stream my movies on my Desktop Computer.

Also, I respect YIFY for the work he does, compressing large Blu-Ray formats to just 800 MB and 1.8 GB - I like his torrent. The only problem I have is the Audio of his torrents is not that great; which is totally understandable, since his torrents are much smaller in size, compared to other Blu-Ray Rips.

MKV is a container format, unrelated to the quality of the items packed into it, like video, audio, text, etc. The same goes for AVI. Container formats.

The quality vs. size is related to the encoding format of the items muxed into the container, like for video if it's DivX/XviD, h264, ..., or for sound MP3, AAC, or FLAC, etc.

Not to mention that converting a video from mkv to mp4 can be done by anyone, in no more than a couple of minutes, with no loss of quality: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-7000-MK...Losslessly

the very essence of the container is, i believe, to interleave the audio and the video so that they play together.
it'd be a nuissance to open the video and the audio on separate players and hitting the play button at the exact same time to ensure sync'ing.
kinda like drinking a cup of coffee & milk.
it'd be a nuissance to drink a sip of coffee (video) from one cup and a sip of milk (audio) from another cup at the same time.
you just stirr them together in one cup (container) so that you have a bit of both in each sip.
now, if you were to pour your coffee & milk from one cup (mkv) to another (mp4), it'd still taste the same.
