In May or June, there's going to be the inaugural event of the wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling, or AEW for short.
So far, they have made some impressive inroads as to getting talent from famous wrestling promotions, namely WWE, ROH, and NJPW.
I may be a WWE "fanboy," but even I have to admit that competition has to happen if wrestling is to survive and not implode on itself due to lack of interest (looking at WWE's way).
I know that this forum doesn't regularly talk about pro wrestling, but it looks like things are looking up indeed.
Thoughts? Prayers? Ideas? Don't be afraid to air them out!

I think WWE's best competition was the old WCW, and as you know they went belly up. TNA was a close blip on the radar, but that's not saying much.
Unless something crazy happens I think wrestling's heyday is on the downslide... Especially now with MMA/UFC... Wrestling is kinda like rap music, the best is over now and it doesn't appear to be making a comeback...

Strange if you look at this: this company hasn't put up a show yet, and people are already saying it's good.
Since I have nothing to do (surprise, surprise), I guess I'll watch it.
People are dying to see something that's not WWE.

The only star I see that I like is Cody Rhodes... The rest I haven't really seen. It's gotta be a good storyline because that matters more than the stars. WWE proved that great stars don't equal great ratings if their characters are misused...
I'll probably check it out too, but I've never heard of it until your thread. I haven't been keeping up lately.

People have been pointing this out: if AEW dreams of competing with WWE, they have to stay different; they can't try to one-up WWE in every way possible. They have to carve their own niche if they hope to have a ghost of a chance.
There are guys like Cody Rhodes, who work as a corporate member, Kenny Omega who made his name in ROH/NJPW as a former leader of the Bullet Club who WWE tried to hire, Chris Jericho, who's Chris Jericho (what can you say?), Jim Ross, and then possibly Dean Ambrose, who is no longer in WWE.
Now there's another possible signing too: CM Punk. That's going raise headlines indeed.
Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, but hold your praises until the first show has commenced.
Just a reminder: the first card is in seven days.
I hope someone uploads it here on The Pirate Bay.

Best luck for you guys. But the only thing I like in sports are cheerleaders, sign holding girls, and advertising hotties.

I don't blame you.
I'm pragmatic about this as well, but I will give it a fair shake.

Some of the female performers are hot... Trish Stratus, Tori Wilson off the top of my head... There are even wrestlers who are also porn stars...
