Aircraft disaster movie name.

I think i watched this movie in the early 90's.

It has i think some connection to the Bermuda triangle and wormholes (?).

During a normal flight, an accident/incident causes the front portion of the aircraft to be ripped off sucking most people with it. A portal like thingie (like from The Avengers movie) covers the gape and somehow protects the rest inside the plane. The people huddle towards the rear end of the craft. Time passes. Recall an old couple huddling in the back of the plane.

Apparently the people who got sucked out of the front portion did not die. They seem to live in a "alternate domain".

Can't remember much else.

Any ideas ?

PS: I definitely saw this movie on TV. No deception or dreaming involved :-)

I haven't watched this in a long time so I can't remember details but it sounds similar to The Langoliers.

Is it this one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Langoliers

There's a tv movie and a tv mini series but both sound similar.

There's a list of disaster films on wiki, with it's own aircraft disaster section, so if it's not the langoliers, it may well be one of the others listed. Tbh though, I went through the list, focusing on films released in the 1990s and none of the plots sound like the film you saw.

edit - Frodoo came up with the same title too.

Thank you both. The plot certainly seems to match. Let me check. I checked the google images of Langoliers. Don't remember seeing those strange creatures. But it is possible, as I don't think I sat through the full movie and I watched it in B&W. I will try to download the movie and verify.

I will also go through the list Spud. Thanks for the time :-)
I've been searching imdb almost since MH-370 disappeared under different tags (Bermuda, time travel etc)
Langoliers seems most likely candidate. Will surely write back at the earliest.

Thank you FroodoBagginz.

Edit: I must clarify, that the movie could have been pre-90s as it usually took some time for movies to appear on TV. But am not ruling out 90s movies.

Update: I downloaded and skimmed through it. Does not appear to be the one I saw.
Am calling off "search operations" for a while. Too many movies. Too tired. :-)

Maybe Millenium?

Does it involve cannibalism? If so, it's probably called "Alive."

Let me check please. I've loaded the torrents. Need some time. But from the images/pictures it does not ring a bell. Thank you all the same.
I've gone through almost every movie with tag 'airplane' on imdb between the years 1980 and 2000. No hits.

No. More a 80s movie I think. Thank you for the thought. :-)
