You could have simple filters where you examine the file listing of a torrent and weed out torrents containing *.lnk extensions

What if we put uploaders under probation and ban newly-registered users from uploading anything with an .exe or compressed archive unless they prove themselves to be legitimate?

I agree with that 100%. Unfortunately the only person who could implement these kind of changes isn't showing any interest in doing so.

I don't think he could do so maybe not alone as he totally messed up the site recently with that huge conversion which I don't think he could handle and now page search filters, comments and lot's of stuff is gone and he has no clue how to revert it back

Easiest way to get a load accounts ia to start a TPB proxy where people have to log in to their TPB accounts to search, enough people will do that......
