Hello kids! I've been a big Mst3k fan since 1991, and have followed the gang through all of their various projects.
There's one goldmine of riffable-material that hasn't been touched, though. Namely, Christian movies!
I understand why Rifftrax would avoid touching yhe genre, but that doesn't mean it can't of shouldn't be done!
Being an ex-christian, raised on biblical-rules and the ironic avoidance of those rules by the Christians around me, it's obvious that Christian-movies should be riffed by people who know Christianity, and the behavior of conservative Christians.
If anyone is interested in such a project, let me know. And if you want to go with the idea on your own, I'd like to see the results!
Thanks

even though this thread is going to go to heckles-in a handbasket in less than a day, I will provide you the benefit-of-the-doubt and take you seriously, stay on topic, and stick with riffing as an artform, avoiding tweety-crap and reddit-manure.
Assuming you are not "poking bears", there is a problem: what you suggest is utterly niche. The only thing more niche would be basing an entire project around the half-arsed pseudo-anthropological Neo Pagan Movement which has been a joke since at least 1994, and basically "D&D Cosplay with false approximations of Pre-Christian Prayer".
Statistically and demographically, how many people are going to laugh at that?
Assuming you are not trolling, and are taking this notion seriously, I do not think you are thinking-this-through as much as avante-garde comedy, or Christendom, or Agnostic Comedy, or anything in-between, deserves.
In essence, you appear to be "half-a$$ing it" here. In a most high-school way.
... but then again, that's 99.999% of what TikkyTokkyTardians do.

Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a riffer! For some reason, I read the OP in the voice of Tom Servo.

You should also check out the Everything Is Terrible thread on the forum. One of the main things they utilize is those oddball weird Christian videotapes. I had never heard of EiT until very recently and thought it was fantastic.

The Christmas Shoes, anyone?
I know it's a Hallmark or sumsuch flick, technically it's very much in the aforementioned genre. I might even put the Rue McClanahan (...Of The Bride) movies in that genre as well.
I'm personally a fan of all of these riffs, all religion and politics aside.

Thanks! I'm familiar with EIT. I used to waste a lot of time at work watching their videos!
I already have a few movies in mind, and Ideally want to start a casual riffing group here in Austin. Nothing commercial, just for fun.
But I wanted to get the idea out, because it has real possibilities. Especially amongst athiests who were once Christians.
Riffing on general is a form of comedy that isn't nearly as well known as it should be, so every little bit helps.

The of the Bride films were gold! But of course anything that Bridget and Mary Jo riff is going to come out brilliantly!

Pretty sure Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny counts as a Christian movie.
Technically, all movies are, since God's in all things.

While I'm no fan of either, I don't think Scientology (∴ Battlefield Earth) counts as Christianity.
Only mentioned because thread name and your use of "Ecumenicalism," which is specifically Xian. And we all know that SubGenius and Discordia are the only One True Religions.
I don't want to sound too negative; Battlefield Earth is an okay riff, but besides Paul Verhoeven (especially Starship Troopers and the classic RoboCop) I'm just not a big fan of Dutch films.
