There's a lack of ideas and suggestions flowing here folks. If you want to have a party to celebrate TPB's 15th anniversary, we need you to come forward with your ideas, thoughts, and offers of help, and not leave it up to staff to sort out.
dueda - you suggested "Now how about easter eggs, notable torrents from last 15 years, memorable uploaders, a rarest/best torrent prize, or just free sparkling drinks with confetti? Maybe "copyright troll debauchery contest" with their picture on the wall?" Can you elaborate on those first 4 please? Murlok mentioned The Void, and it's a given someone will post a Happy Anniversary thread in that forum on the big day, so any forum debauchery will likely take place in there. For anyone stuck for ideas, consider what other torrent sites (and their respective community forums) do to celebrate their own anniversary. Do they have competitions and prizes etc? Can those celebrations be applied here? How about someone who's a regular on the TPB IRC chan organise a Big Piratey Quiz to take place on #thepiratebay.org. A quizmaster should know the chan and it's users - that they come from all walks of life, from all countries - and questions put to users should reflect that (for example, in a trivial pursuit type quiz, it would be better to ask a question on world history than say, one about the civil war of one particular country). Perhaps the questions can all be related to filesharing? Perhaps there's someone out there who would like to donate a bouncer, a seedbox, or sparkling drinks to the winner/s? Any competition ideas, or anything else you'd like to see for the 15th anniversary? Maybe "copyright troll debauchery contest" with their picture on the wall?" Can you elaborate on those first 4 please? First, I'm just an old lazy dumb pirate, but I'm honored. 1. Easter eggs - someone can create torrents with hints, like a treasure hunt, or just pictures, embedded videos, or other memorabilia just for the day. - Of course no idea what will happen after their intended use, but an explanation like "void after first 3 recipients" or "better served before" should suffice. - Alternatively, the site could display random messages / ads with hints, so torrent pollution is out of equation. 2. Notable torrents - Aside the obvious biggest, smallest, most looked for, least looked for but still active, longest lived, some torrents got a lot of attention. - Most downloaded torrent alone is calculated by average hits/period; adjusting for fade-in/fade-out could be used; or a total. - It can be seen in the comments and surely TPB mods (that includes the Forum mods) can remember some really outstanding gems or make a contest. - One example of "most waited torrent" would be GTA V; the PC version took years to come and many users should have demanded explanations from TPB. - The "most begged torrent" with as many as 666 comments with the word "seed" (or "seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed"). - Filth aside, some titles are eye-opening, like "ultimate guide to garage made space-worth ornitorrinc artificial intelligency - swahilli edition" or Ansi-art. - The "most horrible day torrent" should have caused overload due high demand. - The "most hated by the mods" torrent demands no further explanation. I'm sure you guys can't forget. And the "most loved" one too. 3. Obviously, some uploaders also deserve mention for their contribution: Most liked/thanked, most shouted at, most frequent uploader, most GB total - (and/or monthly average), longest uninterrupted (for no more than a week) contributor, and the "with more crap in their torrents" like samples, nfos, links, etc. - Uploaders with the most non-mainstream repertoire. - Uploaders with the most malware or just plain crappy stuff. - Uploaders with the quickest update (new version) response time for looked after material. - Arguable for multiple reasons, but maybe: Uploaders with the most hummongous bandwidth and connection ability. Or the largest hard disk seeding. 4. The most rare upload is hard to point. A very obscure, old movie or book (I know a guy who scanned a 600 y.o. japanese book about samurai) or the darkest wartime microfilm from real Mata Hari, Jolie bitchslapping Bill Gates or just a leak on how big companies screw us... As for best, there're multiple interpretations: - Fastest upload after official release. - More anticipated (days before official) release. - Highest quality, like 16K @ 4000 FPS for professional video or 256-channel / 7th order for audio. - Authentic stuff, if is there someone uploading stolen software, site or product codes. * A best mod (most productive, most contributing, most frequent) can also be in demand! Some less glorious titles can be thinked of, you decide. - I will NOT vote Sid for the "most colorful spoken scary impaler of noobs, morons, trolls and deviants". > I would like to candidate for "noob of the year" nomination. RX already sent me a vote! < As always, I beg your pardon for my verborragic enthusiasm and batlant disregard for Shakespeare's works, therefore leaving you fare well; Please, feel free and encouraged to ask me if this was not clear enough or just not enough, I'll be glad to expand even more. I guess I mentioned elsewhere about action figures... Maybe some papercut / folding. TPC could offer something as prize. I would like a life-size 3D Scar Jo with lumicent (optical fibers) hair and lurex bodysuit shifting on all Oakley lens colors. Kinda like System Shock 2's Shodan.

^^^^^^ I agree with the thoughts above. If not exactly verbatim, give out awards for different things. TPB is a vessel of what was accomplished by the users who help create/maintain it. So I think this is the most appropriate course of action.
Maybe lifetime achievement award... For example, when I first started , thethingy was a monster uploader and very helpful. Just because he's gone now doesn;t mean we can't thank him... (just an example, you know what i'm getting at). Just to clarify, is this for both TPB AND Suprbay? It should be both if awards include, best noob, best mod... Even a most interesting thread starter award... BUt if it's just TPB being honored, those acknowledgements would not make sense. ...We can still get dancers and a cake, like I mentioned in my first post here... Just a thought

The Pirates Forum is a couple years younger, as discussed here. Yet TPB has mods (and noobs). ...dancers like Scar Jo with fiber optics hair (wigs), please!

We should treat ourselves with a bucket of aids.

What you posted is for Hi-C... What we're talking about is Hi-V (the HIVZ)...
Yes, aids has been used as a form of internet slang. Some will say I have even spread aids, but I don't believe that... For example: "His post was so bad, stupid, lame, whatever, I got aids after reading it. You can use any disease, really... This post will probably give you Cancer. As far as a suggestion, I'm not sure why we need more aids, as you can contract it by reading some aidz ridden posts on a daily basis (again, not by me, though).

So the former HTL-V3 became sinonym for "shit" (stuff, particularly the bad type; "poison"). Well, this forum is already too much full of (whatever the kids think of to make fun of themselves). I'm sure there's some very reasonable explanation for that.
