M.2 Screws: When Would I Use Them?
#1
OK, I am going to buy an ASUS Prime A320M-K Motherboard, one that supports AM4 AMD Processors.

When I had a go with the user e-book of that motherboard, it said that it would come with M.2 Screws.

From further research, I have learned that most modern inventions use it, like SSD drives and other "modules."

What about stuff like the main motherboard, where you would put the screws onto the case? Now remember, the case that I have is 15 years old. Keep in mind that I plan on using it to save some money. I know that I won't be making use of the USB 3.0 technology, but I will live so long as the motherboard will still function.

Will I need M.2 screws to screw the motherboard tightly on the case?

First, I suspect you don't know what M.2 really is.

But, to answer the question, you use the same screws you normally would to attach a motherboard. Just be sure the standoffs are in the proper places on the case. The M.2 screws only come into play when using that particular expansion option. You'd know if you were using it or not, so if you aren't sure, you aren't using it, so don't worry about it.

Thanks, Moe.

You're right. I don't know what M.2 screws are and what they're for. I'm researching as we speak.

Here's what I do: ask first, look it up later. Tongue

Well, like I said, if you aren't using the M.2 slot, you don't need them.
