Hi all, I'm an enthusiast but haven't really connected with the computer technology communities,

I'm curious to know more about how I as a Canadian on the West Coast can meet up with communities that cut the bullshit when it comes to Net Neutrality and Copyright issues, discuss the legislation that is affecting; and being affected by these laws. What is the role Canadian users (not government) are expected to take in this, globally?

In particular, meeting these people who KNOW what they are talking about from experience, not relying on dicey information provided by articles or news feeds, would help me trust the information I'm being given.

Anyone have a direction they could point me in?

Thanks

I was with them when the telecom companies introduced a psychotic plan to limit Internet bandwidth. You may know that as Usage-Based Billing (U.B.B.).

We won, but the battle isn't over.

Of course, you did ask the question, so that's the answer.
This seems like an excellent site to do that.

Indeed it is a start, I want to meet up with locals to discuss the effects of our internet usage, how it is unlimited/month here and not other provinces, what security measures this region takes in order to keep up with those said effects, and also our individual security.

Thanks! I am checking that out right now.

Yes, in Ontario it passed I guess? But in British Columbia we still have unlimited services at like 50 dollars
No! U.B.B. is not passed; we won that battle. But this is old news, dates back to 2009.

I don't know about Quebec though.
