Escape from Planet Earth (2013) - 5.9
Animation | Adventure | Comedy.
Dunno if kids enjoyed it, but I did :-p

The story takes place on planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA.

Moral: Aliens are Beautiful People.

A remake of the 1982 John Carpenter movie by the same name, which am yet to watch.
I liked it. The concept was great. A good thriller.
Moral: Not all aliens are beautiful people.

It is possible to view The Thing 2011 as a sequel.
Watch them both. I love this kind of stuff.
