Cool you guys.. Fuck, I downloaded a SID player so I can listen to all my favorite Commodore 64 Video games.. Something about them that I'll always love. DigDog, there is no such thing as "weird" it's either like or no like
well, i went to music school, so i listen thing from a technical point of view. my collection of "great music" includes manowar, john zorn, aqua, mozart, and greek folk music. i really only enjoy listening to sounds and forms that i am not familiar with, so a random youtube video of a chiptune might be more interesting than, say, pink floyd live. anything which breaks new ground .. for me - so, if i haven't heard it before, it's good. i tend to enter phases when i'm all about 1 kind of music, then i "finish" it and i'm off to the next.

interesting; thanks so much for the post. So anything new and different is what catches your ear.
I also like lots of different things depending on my mood. Anything from hip hop to Adele, cheesy pop (90s and current), indie, the odd bit of house music....
Any genre. Most of the good music I know totally mixes genres. But, nevertheless if I were to pigeon-hole them
Then,
Classical - 19 & 20th Century (you know, Debussy, Mahler, Beethoven, etc)
Occasionally some Hip-Hop - You know RZA, Nujabes, Cyne, etc. Some of the songs and/or music (not all) by them are really good.
Since I'm old and awesome, my favorite genre is industrial. e.i. skinny puppy, ministry, kmfdm, etc.
Death metal, technical death metal, Bay Area thrash, etc.
Pop punk, punk rock, alternative rock, post-hardcore, space rock, neo-prog
Neuroskunk, bubble trance, agritech, white sludge, pinch and flutter, vegan straight up, fidget mansion, skweep, deep psychobilly -- there are just too many to choose from!
EDIT - And I positively swoon when it comes to kafka-obscura.
Umm, wow, those really exist? Now I am back in times when I was around 10 and wondered there is genre named "soul" :O
