Hi all,

I got a brand new WD 500GB 2.5" HDD to replace an old 250GB HDD in my laptop.

I formatted it to NTFS and went to install Win7.
It reached 2% and then threw up some error or other.
Since then i'm having a shit time trying to get this HDD initialized.

I put it into an external enclosure and hooked it up to my PC and below is the error i'm getting when i try to initialize the disk.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions:

Best would still be to connect it to a proper SATA/ATA connection. This harddisk seems to have a factory fault tho, unless you have jumpers on the back
I think it's a factory fault Q91 as the issues started right from the time it first went into the laptop for the 1st time.
I'd contact whoever you purchased it from. You can try a low level format, but you should send it back.

Yeah i ran a low level format last night kjf but it didn't help. I also ran Hirens' on it and it couldn't even find the disk so i think it's going back to the vendor Smile
