Hi folks,

I used to have Avast! installed on my computer (free version), but it kept generating troubles with cracked softwares such as MS Office. I would like to know if is there any antivirus that wont cause me this kind of problem...

Thank you all!
No. There will always be false detections. So you'll have to add those false detections to the AV's exception/exclude list.

But yeah, Avast is pretty well known for it's high false detection rate.

On the other hand, better have it be picky than letting nasty buggers go through.
What NokTham said, but using the exclude function isn't exactly rocket science.
Yes !
you can use Malwarebytes- Antivirus for Anti-Malware to your PC ... Thank you... best of Luck
The only "pirate-friendly" AV you can use is Clamwin, a free and open source project based on the Clam Antivirus project: www.clamwin.com

However, it doesn't have a resident "stand watch" shield, so It doesn't catch viruses with their pants down. You should have to manually scan it yourself.

I use that for my Windows 2000 computer. It's not my main computer where I do my important stuff; it's what I use for backup, job search, and nothing really personal. It's a guest computer if a guest comes in to my apartment and doesn't have a laptop. It's an "unimportant" computer, but that's where I use Clamwin on.

Anyhow, there are free updates, program-wise and virus-wise, but you will have to use those definitions to scan the objects yourself, and manually. But because everything is manual, it won't lock up your computer if you're sure the file doesn't pose a threat. Essentially, it won't argue with you. Smile

Use it if you don't fancy the major players or the free editions and their invasive lock-downs.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Other than that, I use Comodo Internet Security the free version on my main computer, the one that combines a firewall and an antivirus. It's pretty good actually.
There's ClamSentinel which turns ClamWin into a real time scanner (ClamWin required), but last time I checked it, it had a high cpu usage, not sure how it works now.

Thanks all!

The problem I had with Avast was that while I had it installed in my computer, I kept having trouble MS Office... Office applications were always complaining they were not registered and shutting down... I added KMSPico and some other stuff to exceptions, but it was not enough... Once I uninstalled Avast, i had Office back...

I'll check on the options you talked about... Smile
