Hello. Let's just say I want to run a website like TPB. What kind of servers I should use? I know things about hosting on PC, LAN/WAN IP addresses and stuff like that, but I don't know much about servers.
I would like to answer someone with experience... An admin or a user with such knowledge.

There is no kind of server you should or shouldn't use.

Unless you have money to burn, you are going to focus more on what you can afford to spend on this project.

You can do it from home for free.

You can spend a minimal amount on a VPS. Find a hosting provider with vague TOS and go from there.
