I've been IDM and love it.
However, these days, IDM keeps popping up a message saying that it has found that it's been registered with a fake serial.
Has anyone gotten the same message? If so, is the program still safe? Safe or not, have you found a solution that makes the message go away?
Same problem, I've experienced like you, actually is not a problem, but it was so annoying, really.
I just download another version of IDM with pop-up fixer and it's works for me.

Something I have found that might solve that issue
Method 1
Open RUN dialog box [Windows Key + R]
Type “regedit” and hit ENTER
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager
Find for “CheckUpdtVM”
Change value to “0”
Method 2
Go to the IDM directory
Find for “IDMGrHlp.exe” and delete it
Now find for “idmBroker.exe” and copy/paste in same folder
Rename the copied file to “IDMGrHlp.exe”
Restart your system to apply this effect
Method 3
Go to the directory “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\”
Find for “hosts”
Right click on that file follow by Open With >> Notepad [Can be use any text editor]
Now just copy the below lines of code and paste it after the last line in the “hosts” file
127.0.0.1 tonec.com
127.0.0.1
http://www.tonec.com
127.0.0.1 registeridm.com
127.0.0.1
http://www.registeridm.com
127.0.0.1 secure.registeridm.com
127.0.0.1 internetdownloadmanager.com
127.0.0.1
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com
127.0.0.1 secure.internetdownloadmanager.com
127.0.0.1 mirror.internetdownloadmanager.com
127.0.0.1 mirror2.internetdownloadmanager.com

Save this file and restart your system to see the effect

As I said, I just download another version of IDM with pop-up fixer (look for the latest version & last upload/uptodate).

It can be "fixed" via the registry. No need for third party "fixes" or links to some other......
