Documentary

Alex Saab: A Kidnapped Diplomat

The arrest and kidnapping of Alex Saab on June 12th, 2020 is a violation of international law executed by Cape Verdean authorities, at the request of the United States, despite lacking an INTERPOL Red Notice, an arrest warrant violating his diplomatic immunity. Subsequently, the U.S. requested his extradition on June 29th, 2020, and on October 16th, 2021 without having completed the judicial process in Cape Verde, he was forcibly removed from Cape Verde to a prison in the United States, where he remains.

The persecution and prosecution of the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab is undeniably politically motivated and represents one facet of current imperialist hegemony. As was stated by former U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, in his recently published book A Sacred Oath, “The U.S. did, in fact, know that Alex Saab was on a Special Mission to negotiate an agreement between Iran and Venezuela to receive more fuel, food, and medical supplies, and therefore was instrumental in keeping the [Maduro] regime afloat”.

As it is widely known, Venezuela has suffered the consequences of the illegal blockade imposed by the U.S. government since 2015. And as pointed out in Mark Esper’s book, that was precisely the mission entrusted to Alex. He was on his way to carry out a humanitarian mission to procure staples food, fuel, medicines, and medical equipment urgently needed in Venezuela.

These actions not only violate international law, in particular the Convention of Vienna of Diplomatic Relations, which establishes full immunity and inviolability for Special Envoys, as well as Alex’s human rights, in particular his right to a fair trial and due process.

This documentary narrates the injustice committed against a Venezuelan diplomat whose only crime was to circumvent the North American sanctions and buy food, medicine, and fuel for the Venezuelan people.

The Secret Routes of Migratory Birds

Every year millions of migratory birds make their epic journey across Europe - south in the autumn, north in early spring, but recently there have been fewer in the skies. Some species have even vanished entirely.

What could be discouraging them from flying?

For over twenty years, Christian Moullec has watched and studied birds. He learned to pilot a microlight to fly alongside them. He wanted to understand, and act to help these birds continue their seasonal pilgrimages. And so, he dreamt up a project: a school of migration. He will fly off with a small group of geese and discover, with them, the pitfalls and dangers of our modern world, and find a new way of crossing. Then, he will leave them to their freedom with the hope that his pupils will retain their journey’s lessons, and one day pass these on to other wild geese.

For the first time ever, get into the very heart of a migratory journey. Fly with the greylag geese and understand their behavior.

Weaponising Water In Palestine

Decades of Israeli occupation have left Palestinians struggling to access clean water. Israel controls a majority of the freshwater resources in the occupied West Bank. And in Gaza, its 16-year blockade and military operations have had a devastating effect on the water supply. Monitoring groups say about 97 percent of the water supply in Gaza is contaminated and unfit for human consumption.

Gaza’s only freshwater source, the Coastal Aquifer, cannot meet demand and has been depleted by overextraction and contaminated by sewage. Rising temperatures and sea levels are only making life more difficult, while in Israel, residents do not have to worry about the taps running dry.
