Global Ministries, a North American Christian ministry called Israel an apartheid state, claiming that Palestinians are denied equal access to water, jobs, travel, and other basic necessities.

According to a letter released by Global Ministries, "Israeli laws and practices that discriminate against Palestinians both Christians and Muslims are consistent with the international understanding of the crime of apartheid."

The letter was signed by the denomination's General Minister and President, Rev. Teresa Hord Owens; President of the Division of Overseas Ministries, Rev. LaMarco Cable; and Interim President of Disciples Home Missions, Rev. Sheila Spencer, and was titled "Compelled to Witness."

"The occupation, denial of rights, and injustice that Palestinians face are inconsistent with our view of God's desire for justice for all people, and hence are sins," the letter stated. "As leaders of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we must not remain silent in the face of ground-level developments and systemic forces that are becoming more entrenched... We feel driven to recognize and amplify the voices of our partners in Israel/Palestine and around the world, as well as to bear testimony to what we know and see."

"What we see in Israel/Palestine plainly appears to fulfill the legal definition of apartheid," the letter states, "since Palestinians do not have equal access to water, immunizations, jobs, or the opportunity to travel."

"No tangible positive changes in policy have realized since the 2021 Israeli elections," the letter continued, "with Israel signaling no purpose to negotiate toward the realization of a Palestinian state, or to abide by international law, conventions, or UN resolutions, and the US remaining inactive in addressing the deteriorating circumstances."
