I've downloaded some sound files but they're in .wv format. Far too many to do one at a time.
.wv as in wavepack? FFMPEG should be able to handle those. Have you tried?

I never heard of .wv files until I downloaded The Archies
And I also never heard of FFMPEG so I have to say "nope I haven't tried it."

Audacity should work but OP specifically said "Far too many to do one at a time.".
https://file-converter.org does batch. Just highlight all of them, right click/ file converter/select format, and it'll start processing them
Doesn't FFMPEG or WinFF do that?
