The Israeli regime forces have invaded the headquarters of a leading child rights organization in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The non-governmental organization Defense for Children International-Palestine (DCI-Palestine) said in a press statement that Israeli soldiers had in the early hours of Thursday raided its headquarters in Sateh Marhaba neighborhood in al-Bireh city near Ramallah.

The statement said heavily-armed Israeli forces smashed the main door of the child rights organization’s premises and barged their way inside, violently searching the offices and confiscating several computers.

DCI-Palestine strongly condemned the Israeli invasion and any serious violations targeting all local and international human rights organizations and institutions, and said these attacks would not deter it from performing its duties in protecting the rights of the Palestinian children.

The independent non-governmental organization also underlined that it would press ahead with its efforts to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and expose Israeli human rights violations against children.

Quote:“This is the latest act by Israeli authorities to increasingly push forward a campaign to delegitimize and criminalize Palestinian civil society and human rights organizations like DCI-Palestine,” the organization said in a series of tweets.

“We carry out our work in a situation of armed conflict where perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity enjoy systemic impunity and Israeli forces refuse to end serious breaches of international law or hold perpetrators accountable,” it added.

The DCI-Palestine is an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem al-Quds and the Gaza Strip.

It has been subject to defamation and incitement campaigns by various organizations that support Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine, aiming at cutting its funding and shutting it down.

The DCI-Palestine is a national branch of Defense of Children International, an international child-rights movement and non-governmental organization established in 1979, which currently has over 35 sections around the world and an international secretariat in Geneva.

The Thursday raid comes a day after Israeli forces shot and killed an 11-year-old Palestinian boy who was riding in a car with his father near the entrance to the town of Beit Ummar, north of the West Bank city of al-Khalil.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Mohammad Mouayyad Allamy was shot in the chest and suffered bleeding in his lungs when Israeli forces opened fire at the car, adding that the boy was evacuated by medics in critical condition to al-Ahli Hospital, but later died of his injuries.

Mohammad was the second young Palestinian to die of wounds sustained by Israeli fire in days.

Israeli forces stormed on July 24 the town of Beita, south of Nablus, and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian teenager at a protest over illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
