Hello,

Can anyone tell me which urls to add to the HOSTS file? I'm asking for a friend.

Thank you.

Quote:1. Close your internet connection.

2. This is cracked version. You do not need any key or patch. Just
    install and use.

Install the application and updates by running the exe files
    consequently ;
    1.CyberLink-PowerDirector11-Ultra.exe  (main installer)
    2.CL.2215_GM3_Patch_VDE120918-01.exe  (update 2215)
    3.CL.2321_GM3_Patch_VDE121127-01.exe  (update 2321)

4. Uncheck "remind me later" box and skip registration page.

5. Uncheck auto update option (Settings). Do not update the application.

6. For your safety Use firewall to block the internet connection of the
    application.
.htaccess is a configuration file used by Apache.

I don't see how it is relevant.

Thank you. I meant the hosts file.
You don't put URLs into a hosts file.

A hosts file won't help if the application is hard coded to connect to IP addresses.

As the notes you quoted state, the best solution is a firewall that will block any kind of outgoing connection from that application.

Otherwise, you can wait and see if anyone else here has used that title and has a comprehensive list of all the host names the application might try to connect to.
They should have put that information into the torrent README file.  I guess if they didn't bother then they didn't care much about it.
You SHOULD be able to block phoning home with hosts in the format:

127.0.0.1 activate.cyberlink.com
0.0.0.0 activate.cyberlink.com
(the two above are equivalent).

Make sure it is not the first entry which should be:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 my.machines.name

That said, M$ is known to engage in fuggery to bypass the hosts file. (Telemetry)
My guess is that they use the vpn and related protocols in services: disable them.

Its also likely that other companies are bypassing hosts as well.

If using a firewall, turn OFF Win firewall, and use one that is totally independent of it.

A good place to start:

Why so many bitcoin related addresses blocked in this block list?
