Thanks once more. I feel I'm a bumbling incompetent, stretching patience at this point!

I have a primed thumb drive.
The main drive is indeed partitioned - a 1TB ssd, but I believe I have everything backed up.
I can have a go, buut it may be time I think to have a word with the guy in the local PC shop who put the thing together - or indeed hand it over to him for a knowledge & experience based spring clean..

I have a list of programs care of CCCleaner. Surprisingly long..
Advice: Do NOT use AV, or anything that monitors throughput. You will have corporate geeks censoring your net access.

Use a Scanner, like Emsisoft Command Line.
And learn to script it.
If wanted I can give examples.
HI
Reinstalled Win10 keeping files but not apps.

Previously successful Adobe Creative Collection https://thepiratebay.org/description.php?id=34154530
Now does nothing on click of Autorun.exe.
Reading around, it's getting difficult to find what I need:

Photoshop
Acrobat pro
Illustrator

Having found it wouldn't install I turned MS AV back on which immediately
squeals at the setup.exe files as a Trojan.

I guess they're reading this forum!

There's several hours I won't get back!

I'll try older versions. I wnder if AV suppliers are targetting the commonly available downloads.
Could be the case something in the setup checks for footprints of a previous installation or that your setup file is corrupted (if you didn't download afresh).
As you refreshed Windows keeping the files instead, there're chances whatever hit your system is sill around or just damage something required to install.
If you have bandwidth and storage, you can try other torrents, like this https://thepiratebay.org/description.php?id=36554896
