The problem with marxism is that most people don't understand what it is, specially all the self proclaimed marxists. The real nature of marxism, and what self proclaimed marxists think it is, are the opposite. And this is the problem.
So, to understand marxism, you have to understand its psychology. The alienation is real, but not originated by an exogenous entity, but originated by its own psychological patology. You need to "transcribe" its narrative to the real pathological psychology.
In marxist narrative, the USA is a "country of slaves", built upon the suffering of black people, so it must be punished, and the slaves' descendents must have a reparation. A new country will be created upon the ashes of the old racist, patriarcal, ... country. They have the right to punish white people.
The reality is that all these black people have a profound inferiority complex. They subconsciously know that the USA was founded, created, molded, by white european men, that if slaves weren't brought to that shores the country would be basically the same. That they have nothing to do with the western civilization, and that this western civilization has everything to do with america. It is not their country.
They know that africa is a shit hole, because of black people, and that europe and america are the gold standard of society, because of white people. So, instead of saying “thank God my granddaddy got on that boat” like Muhammad Ali said, they bite the hand that feeds them.
But Ali is now nothing but an uncle Tom, and the founding fathers statues must be torn down, and the street names changed. And where is the limit? There is none. Because the inferiority complex will always be triggered, and not just by statues of people long time ago gone, but for anything white, because it's pathological.

- Marxists think they are intellectuals, above average people in any possible sense, social justice warriors that fight against injustice. That there is some "superstructure" that "alienates" them, and in order to be free it must be destroyed. In classical marxism that superstructure is capitalism, but after the fall of "real socialism" (the collapse of the CCCP) it has mutated in a myriad of superstructures: heteropatriarchy, colonialism, racism, etc.
- In reality, marxism is the psychological projection of an inferiority complex. Marxists are alienated people with psychological problems.
