There are a few movie and soundtrack pairings that represent the wild 1980s. None more so than Top Gun (Footloose and Pretty in Pink are also strong contenders.) A whirlwind romance set in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War, Top Gun featured wild aerial acrobatics, steamy sexual tension, and macho competition. And the soundtrack had the songs to match. Featuring the huge hits "Danger Zone," "Take My Breath Away," as well as "Playing with the Boys," "Mighty Wings," and a handful of classic soul tracks, the Top Gun soundtrack may be the perfect example of the outrageous '80s. This version expands on the original, including a number of songs not featured on the initial release, such as "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" and "Great Balls of Fire."

Nanoplex is a production duo consisting of Ben Coda and DJ Ipcress. The duos trademark fusion of progressive techno has always pushed the sonic boundaries of today’s conventional electronic music confines, and has always been aimed at the dancefloor. So I was curious as to whether or not it would be an album comprised primarily of club oriented tracks or if there would be a wider variance of material. It is certainly the former and given the limitations of an hour plus collection of music it can be a very hard thing to pull off. Nanoplex have really succeeded here though and they’ve also called on their friends Tripswitch and Neurodriver for some brilliant collaborative material.

As Planewalker's second full-length psytrance album, Kabbalistic Kazoo represents an evolution of his direction and sound into new sonic territory.
Casting off the dark themes he ventured into in his first album The Kaivalya Project, Planewalker expands his horizons by starting off the album with a techno track at 128 BPM, Cryptic Mystic.
After that, he quickly jumps into traditional full-on tempo ranges with the namesake track, Kabbalistic Kazoo, a soaring, uplifting track with an interesting jazz swing bridge.
Next up is perhaps Planewalker's most original and inspiring remix thus far. The remix is based upon his father's original song Dancing In the Meadow, which was written by Michael Martin Murphey over 40 years ago.
Planewalker used the Bluegrass version of Michael's song featured on Murphey's album Buckaroo Blue Grass, which was nominated for a Grammy award in the bluegrass genre category in 2009.
Other highlights include Sine Qua Non featuring Planewalker's original electric guitar work, Bells of Baphomet presenting vocoded passages read by Planewalker from the Lesser Key of Solomon, and Under the Sword featuring Planewalker's chanting and toning work.
