After The Pirate Bay returned following the 2014 shutdown, they started using CloudFlare.

This has obvious security concerns, because it is a US-based service.  TPB users have been concerned about it from the beginning.

It appears that CloudFlare is now blocking access to TPB.  I just tried around 30 proxies, and didn't find a single one that can be used to access TPB.  The torrents I'm seeding also have much less traffic.

Does anyone know why TPB is using CloudFlare?  Are there really no other options?
I'm not sure myself I think it might be something to do with DDOS protection, just simply a way of protecting the site.  I don't know all the technicalities of it but I'm sure it's got a lot to do with making sure that an attack doesn't happen and just simply a way of protecting the site from serious harm.
I dont think the TPB folks understand that because US laws are against blocking that it has anything to do with policy. There has been no legal policies here since our Reichstag moment on 9/11.
Not about law but individuals, hacker groups or disruptive rivals, whatever. If policy wants it down, they'll send SWAT or enact embargos. Even compel some of the most free countries to arrest and prosecute young liberals who end up in jail.
