Thank you daffy for the suggestion.
For some reason it didn't occur to me that I could get a legit copy when I had a genuine key for Windows 7.

Is Windows 10 Internet connection-dependent in the installation part?
EDIT: Daffy, is there another way to sign up for a user account that you told AncientRome about without using the upgrade? |
