what kind of proxy is this
#1
i am not sure if this is the right place to ask since it could fall into several categories so if you admins think it belongs somewhere else you are welcome to move it there.

i was wondering what kind of proxy that https://pdfcrowd.com is?

it will get a site and convert to pdf or other images.

i was wondering if this is a reverse proxy or is there a special name for this kind of proxy.

because of the way that the proxy works  it is useful for sites that will no longer work on older browsers because of changes on their back end or in the way it renders the page.

never mind that sites use a more secure cypher to eliminate poodle i am able to solve that with a debugger proxy like charles.

thanks

It is not a proxy.  It is a service that does exactly what it says it does - it will load any publicly available web page and convert it to your selected format.

how do they do it?  i would like to build one locally on my own machine.
i doubt that wget or curl can do it on it's own in fact wget often is seen as a robot.

It is a proprietary system that they don't document, but Headless Chromium is one option to pursue yourself. It can be scripted to convert a web page into a PDF.

I have Firefox with an Adobe Acrobat add on, which can convert files to PDFs. I never really need it enough to use it, but it exists... Maybe something worth looking into if you want?
