Check out a few things:
1. If your video games unit can play burnt PSX games. If you have a PSX or a PS2 unit, make sure that it's modded by means of a mod chip or a boot disc.
2. If your game ISO is corrupt. This can be done by testing out another copy of the game in question.

Try CloneCD. I believe they're the originators of the .img file types.
Hope this helps.

burn as slow as possible. make sure you're burning as image and not as data disc.

Just to make sure, you aren't trying to burn the RAR's are you? You should be highlighting them all and then extracting them all at once, if you are describing what I think you are.

Thanks all for your help. So I gave in with the torrent and downloaded another version from a site. It was a zip file of some sort. I unzipped it using 7-zip. I got a folder with:
Resident_Evil_PAL.bin 11/09/2011 10:03 BIN File 664,840KB
Resident_Evil_PAL 11/09/11 10:03 Disc Image File 1KB
Resident_Evil_Pal_Cover 11/09/11 10:03 Windows Media Pl.. 52KB
I used imgburn, selected the bin but then it said 'oops you need to select the cue file. I'll do it for you this time, etc'... So I'm assuming the 1KB is the 'cue' file? Well anyway, I clicked ok, set my speed to the lowest it goes which is 10x but on the 'tutorial' I watched they used 10x also. So I do that, burn it, and it doesn't work! Wasted 6 discs doing this now. What am I doing wrong?
Could it be my discs? I'm using datawrite 52x speed 700mb CD-R.

1x is the best speed to burn at. 2x is ok and 4x is stretching it. Anything over will definitly shorten the life of the laser.
1. What does the PS1 actually say?
2. Can you read the disc on a normal computer?
3. Checked around if the game needs a patch?
