new to subtitles

Hi there
I've just downloaded a foreign film which said it had subtitles but doesn't when you play it. How (in very simple terms) can I activate or get the subtitles. Thanks Michael

there several reasons as to why the subs might not be displaying... the most common is the usage of a media player that does not support the sub files.
vlc supports subtitles. you can get it here: www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

I had Undreground from ages ago and tried it out on Vlc and first got subtitles in german and then noticed at the top an icon for subtitles which let me access english subtitles, excellent.
