Whats the quickest way to download 1 torrent ?
#1
eg im trying to get Formula.1.2019x01.Australia.Race.SkyF1HD.1080p50   https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3074407...HD.1080p50      as fast as i can so i can avoid spoilers such as radio, tv, websites etc telling us who won etc

using speedtest it shows that through my VPN   ipredator im getting download speed of   4.45mbps  and upload speed of  2.96MBps  ( even though im paying my ISP for well over 100MBps down speed)  at the moment that f1 file is coming throught to me at about 900kB/s  and ive set the upload speed limit of 50kB/s ive got about 25% of the file now and my Bittorrent clients saying itll be another 2hours45 before i have 100%

if i adjust my upload speed limit to say 150kbs the download speed drops, im trying to find the sweetspot thatll get this to download as fast as possible, how should i do my settings in Bittorrent client ?

thanks for advice

You can't expect predictable speed or reliability from BitTorrent. It's a chaotic network; also the level of interest of one particular torrent (like the mentioned above) can impact on speed, availability, lifespan, etc. Any fine-tuning on your side won't turn a dead snail into a pack of velociraptors.

Is your torrent seeded by people with corporate-like seedboxes or does it come from a 1Mbps home link turned on only 6PM-10PM? Who else could source the data you want, and/or reroute it thru high-speed lines to a closer and/or quicker path to you?

What you want is a direct download with tunneling service, but until someone put the wanted file there for you, don't hold your breath; torrent network study is a science on itself, but we can't break the fundamental laws.

thanks Dudea ,
some trackers show over 695 people have completed it by 210pm uk time, , tpb shows it was uploaded to tpb 2019-03-17 09:57:57 now thats CET time yes ? https://www.timeanddate.com/time/zones/cet so thats 858am UK british time , i think the race begain at 510am uk time and skysports coverage went on until 8am so that means the uploader finished recording/processing it etc and got it online onto tpb within 1 hour. by 1020am uk time this exact same recording had been fully downloaded by some people and made its way onto other sites. Now i know some people have crazy fast internet , but mines hardly a crap speed ! i mean 100MBPs cost a decently monthy fee, my speed seems to be killed by the VPN i use, im just trying to figure out how to configure my settings to get stuff quicker to avoid spoilers eg on sport torrents. Its looking like itll take me about 3.5 hours to download it yet as i said some people seem to have completed it within 1 hour ! I wish Ipredator VPN provided faster speeds. If anyone else can suggest how to set my upload speed please do, obviously i have the download speed set to unlimited but im actually getting under 1mbps

If you can browse (Google, Wikipedia) at high speed without a VPN and then it becomes much slower with it on, there's a problem.
If you can't get fast torrents no matter what, there's also a problem.

But if you usually get snappy torrents (try something popular and not zero-day) but just a few drag, it's not your VPN's fault - Unless it has a particular problem with the connection path to the peers serving the file you want; ex: Your VPN server redirects you to Panama and your torrent is being seeded by peers in Taiwan and Hawaii - That may be not the best route, you could swap servers until a better route is found.

If you really want more speed and your current setup doesn't deliver, contact support. If you can't get it working, NordVPN is currently offering for $35 / year. But keep in mind your ISP is still in between you and your VPN service as transport (wires), maybe the problem is on their side.

i download/upload over 100gb a day using a vpn, so monthly i use 3-4tb of data through a vpn, so in terms of the amount of data i get for my isp + vpn cost im not complaining . But its fair to say my VPN provider does not maintain the speed i pay my ISP for. All torrents differ in speed i agree some download nice and fast if they have lots of seeds. My vpn is about 15 euros every 3 months and their uptime is so far very good id say maybe 7 days out of 365 they have technical problems or DDOS attacks really affecting things that i can live with i cant see any othe VPN doing better than that.

I was just wondering if their is some sweet spot id not found yet to allow a download speed to be high on a torrent , i will continue to mess about with upload speeds to see if i can improve download speeds when i really need somethin fast. In this case i managed to avoid the media so could watch the f1 race without knowing the result in advance.
thanks for helping.

vpn is often throttled down by isp. it's most likely your provider.

run a speed test without vpn and again with vpn. it's safe to assume they are definitely throttling you.
