What VPN do I choose?

Mullvad, or roll your own VPN server with WireGuard or Outline. If you need an affordable hosting provider which values privacy, try Njalla.

As far as I know it's probably one of the best that exists run by people related to the piratebay that have proven themselves over and over.

Use Private Internet Access. For a kill switch, I use VPNetMon.

Whenever using a VPN you also want to make sure that webRTC requests are disabled otherwise your real IP can be leaked even using the VPN. Maybe not so much for just torrenting, but privacy in general. Most browsers offer this as a feature now, but you can test your connection out using ipleak.net while connected to your VPN.

I've used Windscribe/Tixati for years for torrents no problem.
