We've never had this sort of community-centered forum before.
We will watch with interest, and we may adjust some things later, but you've talked yourselves up so now you have a forum to fill as you see fit.
Have fun, and good luck.

This will probably work better because it's more like what we had on KAT. As far as the original thread being confusing, we all just came from KAT so we're used to being confused.
My original question about moving mega links and requests to other forums went back to some of the troubles we had over at KAT with a lurker from Rifftrax. It seemed as though that our recent practice of keeping things low-key and sharing stuff through mega just among ourselves kept us off their radar. Having multiple results for "Rifftrax" on here and making the existence of the links public made me nervous.
Thank you for the forum. :-)

Not sure what sort of trouble you had but reading between the lines I'm guessing it was files being DMCA'd? That won't happen here.

awesome-sauce sid, thanks much!
there were a couple of issues at the old forum but overall it was a pretty positive environment.
1) some folks complained mightily about mega links. but the megas were often seeded as torrents so everyone was taken care of.
2) one poster trolled about stealing and wanted people to donate donate donate to rifftrax. while i gently suggest that in my nfos, this person was over the top.
but overall, i think the old forum was nice, especially for a sharing forum on the internet.
at the end of kat, i was having a problem outside the forum with a person about a non-rifftrax fanedit. s/he was pming and commenting constantly and then finally started -1 bombing my shares and leaving harsh comments. it was very upsetting.
here's the deal with share/comment ratings: for low volume, esoteric stuff with few ratings, 1 or 2 uninformed ratings could kill a share. plus, ultra-high volume shares (e.g. a single issue of a comic) could get +200 while a carefully crafted movie fanedit that took 10+ hours to make gets +10. popularity does not always equal quality or value.
i think our new home here at suprbay will be great. like sid said no dcma's at pb which means no more "bsg4you zombie share listing" thread that tracked all the kat rifftrax share take downs with pointers to tpb for access.

Ah, OK, well, we're pro free speech here, so we do let people complain. But once a point has been made we don't allow it to be repeated ad-infinitum. So if trolls appear, ignore them, and if they go too far we'll stop them.
"popularity does not always equal quality or value" You're right about that, which is why we don't have share/comment ratings here or on TPB.
We do have "Reputation" here, but it works totally differently to the way it does/did at Kat/katcr. You can give reputation to a member (rather than a share/comment) by clicking on their Reputation value. You can score them +1, 0 or -1 and you can update/remove it at any time. You can only ever have one rating for each member so reputations accumulate much more slowly than you're used to seeing. The reputations have no functional significance or consequences whatsoever, and most people pay very little if any attention to them.

Sid - Thank you so much for the new home! I'm sure we would have adapted to a non-RiffTrax-specific forum, but I sure like having a place that resembles the old place. I'm old and change is frightening.
