Video review - Yogi Bear a classic cartoon
#1
I recently downloaded the Yogi Bear Cartoon collection found here: https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/20105987

EEeek ghad boy.. Bears, hats, ladies, babies and all that rot.   Blimey it's not cricket !  Get me a fox or turn in your yelp.

Yogi made his debut in 1958 on the Huckleberry Hound show and quickly gained in popularity becoming a break out character.  Then in 1961 he was given his own show and the picnic basket stealing legend never looked back.  A cultural icon today you can find Yogi Bear plays a part not only in cartoons but in places like amusement parks, family restaurants and occasionally used by one wicker picnic basket manufacturer in China.

The animation style is simple and extremely easy for your eyes to follow.  There are no twitchy lines drawn around the characters or rapid fire style sudden change ups with the scenes.  Yogi is also drawn with a collar which allowed the animators to keep his body static and only needing to redraw his head when he spoke thereby reducing the number of frames required.   Needless to say this cartoon isn't likely to induce epileptic convulsions in anyone watching it.

The personality of this lovable bear and his mannerisms are said to be based on the character Ed Norton from the Honeymooners (1955) played by Art Carney.  Furthermore the Yogi Bear name is also based on baseball catcher Yogi Berra who played 19 seasons in the major leagues and was extremely well for his wise cracks and off beat comments.  (eg: A nickel these days just isn't worth a dime) .  Yogi Bear often spoke in rhyme and some of his most famous catch phrases included ("pic-a-nic baskets") and his favorite self-promoting proclamation ("I'm smarter than the av-er-age bear!").

Personally I find myself with little choice but to give this cartoon series a 5 out of 5 stars.  Obviously if someone is into Japanese anime or killer robots then they're probably not going to appreciate the simplicity of this cartoon or its humor.   However for anyone that does enjoy those elements then I highly recommend they download the torrent and grab a bowl of cornflakes and be prepared to be teleported back in time to the mid 20th century.

//ps.  I'm not proof reading any of this.

How can you write a review of Yogi Bear without mentioning his little friend Boo-Boo, one of the great unsung actors of his time?

Boo Boo was great but if I had to include him then I would have had to include Ranger Smith and Cindy bear too.  Honestly I just didn't feel like writing that much.

I also do remember that the theme song for the "Yogi Bear Show" was slightly updated. Very similar to the updated "Jetsons" theme song.
