Venezuelan Oppresive Government Threatening Freedom and Human Rights
#1
Hello fellow pirates,

I'm a from Venezuela and I'm writing to you to let you know of the horrible situation we are living right now in Venezuela.

Government has effectively censored mass media (TV, Radio & Print) they have allowed internet communications to continue but in the interest of monitoring it and persecuting the opposition. Most of our population has very little knowledge in internet security and how to defend themselves and are falling for the trap.

There is a lot of information circulating by twitter though they have started experiments on blocking that medium as well (as of now all they have accomplished is blocking images from downloading within Venezuela through some ISPs but since there are several methods of posting indirectly to Twitter and of accessing it they couldn't control effectively the outbreak of information without a mayor block. They are trying to appear a democracy by all means, but through gradual changes of legislation and by destroying the separation of powers, they now hold all the power and are limiting freedom of speech on a regular basis.

They particularly hold the firepower and arms and are releasing them little by little agains the opposition (which counts almost 50% of the population).

I call unto you, the pirates and hackers of the world to provide us with feasible ideas we can perform ourselves in order to restore our once free country.

If you want to inform yourselves I recommend you start by twitter since mass media has very little coverage of the events... be advised though that not all sources are reliable. @fdelrinconcnn is a CNN journalist that has been reporting most of the events and is apparently doing a genuine attempt to keep the information unbiased and verified. The BBC has systematically undermined the facts and leans towards the government ever so slightly (just enough to twist the real information, not so much as to call it downright outrageous...)

Pirates of the world, this government has the arms, could the oppressed count on your support?

I do not know much about Venezuela, but read in today's paper that a pretty lady (beauty queen) named Genesis Carmona died after being shot in the head. She was 22. Hope the riots do not spiral out of control and your economy recovers soon. Try to stay calm and keep safe. Democratic governments in many countries seem to be having a tough time. Peace !

I'm not with you on this one. I see this as a transparent attempt to demonize the Venezuelan government and put a more pro-western government in place. Violent opposition protestors are causing most of the violence and problems. You say the media is ignoring Venezuela but there are a lot of media sources out there who are not, and people who have been paying attention are not fooled by the propaganda. CNN is NOT being fair and balanced, they're being kicked out of the country for war propaganda, along with U.S. diplomats that were caught organizing these protests by visiting universities. You made your account today just to come here and drum up support, so you're part of the online team doing the same thing. Students have admitted to being paid by opposition groups to be part of these "protests". Most of the protestors wear balaclavas because they can't stand up for their cause with their faces showing. I am also new but here for a different issue, but seeing your post I have to call you on this. I assume you are part of the middle class and you don't like the current government who doesn't allow you to have as much economic freedom because they represent the poor masses and are still trying to equalize income disparity in the country.

This is no different than the 2002 failed coup attempt. Why would the government destablize itself with these actions? Maduro was democratically elected.

The government is cracking down on violent, destructive protestors, NOT threatening human rights. Shame on you.
