hello. iḿ a new user to the Linux world, and iḿ having some problems with my vpn and downloads. first off, i use qbittorrent since it seems like there is no uTorrent version for Ubuntu. is that correct?

second, my dlConfused does not seem to download when trying to download a popular torrent. what could be the case here.

third, when i try to set up my ipredator vpn using pptp, i am disconnected after a few seconds. i did follow the guide on the ipredator website, but still i can not get it to work.

can someone plz help me out here?

Yes, you are correct; there is no GNU/Linux port of uTorrent on Ubuntu.

You may need to forward a port on your router. Go to your browser, type "http://192.168.1.1 ," find out what your network IP, scroll through the ports list and put it where it says to put it. Remember to pick a port that concurs with your torrent client. For example, if you set your torrent client to port 5000, forward 5000 on your router web page (or Web UI).

I think that Ipredator is no longer in service. I checked the website when entering it on Google.

Hope this helps.

I have limited knowledge in Linux also, so I hope this helps. Perhaps you can use Wine to emulate utorrent. Wine is a program that lets you run windows programs in Linux, used it once for AIM wayyyy back in the day lol

Wine, for all its virtues, doesn't run on most programs; you are better off using a program that is native to the OS, which in this case is qBittorrent.

I believe Ubuntu 12.04 comes with torrent client (transmission)

you can search within terminal, run this command with sudo
Code:
apt-cache search torrent

or you can search with synaptic package manager or ubuntu software center

I use transmission on my ubuntu systems

try to load torrent file instead of magnet

Use this .js with greasemonkey or tampermonkey installed
torrent loader for tpb

you can edit the script with appropriate tld of tpb

In case you're using the KDE desktop: Ktorrent is very much like uTorrent and a good alternative.
