The Golden Age of Video Games collection
#1
First things first, the torrent is found here - http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10273181

What is the Golden Age of Video Games? Well, I spent over ten years researching and playing full game collections (over 10,000 games) of previous generations of video game systems to create a collection that I feel represents the "golden age of video games". With this collection, posterity may now play a nearly comprehensive collection of the best classic games (even the obscure ones) without tons of research or sorting through full ROM collections that are 90% crud.

Note that due to size, the Sega Saturn and Playstation games of the collection are NOT included in the torrents. However, they are listed in the Documentation folder of the Emulators torrent so that you can attain them in other ways.

Note also that this particular torrent contains only other torrents that each allow you to download the a particular sub-collection of the games themselves.

For questions, updates, and ongoing discussion, please reply here, or refer to this forum thread - https://forum.demonoid.ph/index.php?topic=2944.0

Lastly, please seed and thanks!

Announcing the newest, most perfectly complete version of the Golden Age of Video Games - Age of the Cartridge collection (version 1.9) - https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/14461904...ridge_v1.9

It features 15 new games including those recently translated to English from Japanese and some Setellaview SNES games no one would want to miss!

Additionally, there is a fix for an incorrectly patched ROM (Feda - The Emblem of Justice for SNES) as well as a couple of translation patches that are applied rather than sitting side-by-side.

This is likely the final version of the Age of the Cartridge, so get it now and seed for great justice Wink

As it turned out, there needed just a few modifications to achieve the 2.0 version of the Golden Age of Video Game - Age of the Cartridge Collection -

https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/15384129/Golden_Age_of_Video_Games_-_Age_of_the_Cartridge_v2.0

Here's what changed -

Added AeroFighters Assault for N64.
Added the easier japanese version of Ninja Gaiden 3.
Added Esper Dream rom to complement Esper Dream 2.
Added NES game Nightshade (not the best game, but hard to exclude it).
Added NES game North and South (quite the oversight on my part!)
Added advanced rom hacks Legend of Link and Super Mario Bros. 3Mix
Replaced Zelda - Ocarina of Time - Master Quest with the best fixed version.
Replaced Battletoads with just the bug-fixed version.
Replaced Final Fantasy 2 with just the bug-fixed version.
Updated several rom names due to recent release of GoodTools.

Please remove your seeds for v1.9 if you have one, and consider seeding this final collection for posterity!

Announcing Golden Age of Video Games - Age of the Cartridge v2.1 (with apologies)

So... I know the previous 2.0 release of the Age of the Cartridge was supposed to be final, and even if that were not so, this is still pretty soon to be releasing a revision of a 5.5 GB torrent, but...

I got really tired of not being able to tell which of the translated roms were which due to GoodTools keeping their names untranslated, so I went through the collection and translated the japanese names to english where possible. This causes some divergence with GoodTools, which I initially wanted to avoid, but it finally seemed unavoidable. The naming of the roms have been significantly improved, and I found the divergence to be worth it many times over!

I also noticed some of the rom translations were out of date, so I updated them. This fixes possible hangs in a couple of roms - critical if you ask me.

Also, I noticed that there were several MSX games that should probably make the cut, so I added them, as well as another dozen games I had been thinking about adding for a while.

So, v2.0 is now obsolete, and I'd ask people to seed this instead - hoping you'll forgive the unlucky timing of this hopefully final release for the Age of the Cartridge -

https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/1548563...ridge_v2.1

As for news about what's upcoming, I've decided that once the Shining Force 3 Translation Project is finished, I won't actually release another Sega Saturn torrent. Instead I will combine all the games from Saturn, Playstation, and Sega CD into a single 200 GB torrent called Golden Age of Video Games - Dawn of the Disc.

Finally, I'm working on a PSP golden age collection, which I hope to have out in a month or so.

Thanks again for your patience and seeding!

Age of the Cartridge V2.2 release with several new games!

https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/1567974...ridge_v2.2

Star Fox 2 with Translation and Bug fixes (very nice!)
Two missing Megami Tensei Gaiden games for game boy (I overlooked these)
Castlevania and Penguin Adventure for MSX, and more (I also overlooked these...)
Donkey Kong 64 (not my favorite, but some people felt it really deserved inclusion...)
Frogger (just too classic not to have in a retro game collection)
The Arkanoid series (snes version a big meh from me, but otherwise too classic to not include)
Lion King for Genesis (not so appealing to me, but a big fan favorite)

Update your collection today and seed!

Thanks. Grabbing this today. Will seed at least a few ratio's worth. If you ever start spotlighting Wii U in a few years, my torrents will still be active. Thanks for your v2.2 update.

Thanks, xganonx - It'll be a while before I get to the Wii since my next big target is the PSP, but for now...

I finally decided to have a play through of the Sega Game Gear library! Fortunately, it was a mercifully small library, and I was able to pick out the games in a week or so. So, now we have v2.3 of the Age of the Cartridge collection including Game Gear here -

https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/15745208

Now, you might wonder where the classic Game Gear Sonic and Mickey games are. Well, they're in the Sega Master System collection since that's where the superior ports are Smile Trust me, as good as the Game Gear ports of those games were, you want to play the Sega Master System versions instead Smile

Coming up next week is the Dawn of the Disc collection, including the updated collections for the Playstation, Sega Saturn, and Sega CD. This giant torrent is just over 200 GBs, so make sure to free some space on your hard drives! And after that, I'll start work on the PSP collection!

This will be last Golden Age release for a while. Next thing coming up will the PSP collection, although that's at least several months away.

Please seed and enjoy!

It includes the latest fan translated games such as Vixen 357, Flying Tropper X-SERD, Terranigma with the 60Hz gameplay patch, and a torrent for the newly released Playstation Portable (PSP) collection featuring over 200 of the best PSP games of all time!

Can't get a hold of the NES Classic Edition mini-console this season? Say fuck it, and get this ultimate selection of the best classic games that it could never have!

Cheers, and happy gaming holidays!
