Notes on a Conditional Form is the fourth studio album by English band the 1975, released on 22 May 2020 through Dirty Hit and Polydor Records. The album follows their third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships (2018) and is the second of two albums from their third release cycle, "Music for Cars". The album marks a significant change in sound from the band's previous albums, with genres spanning from industrial rock to more electronic sounds, such as house.

More than three decades after they started playing music around Atlanta, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers sound stronger, surer and more relevant than ever. Sonically, their songs are comfort food, but with lyrics so thoughtful and real, it's by no means a passive listen. "Shit Kickin'" puts country music's backwoods bro movement to shame, using a Stonesy strut to electrify stories about Ray's tomboy childhood: motorbikes, fishing and how "that kudzu covered me like it would set me free from the old ways and the old men." The duo indulge in introspective nostalgia on "Feel This Way" and the gentle title track, which finds Saliers using her "Nixon Republican" grandmother as a reference point to feel hopeful about the future rather than bitching about the now. "Favorite Flavor" and "K.C. Girl" are equally energized, as is "Change My Heart," with its blues rock meets paisley underground vibe. As always, the harmonies perform their magic trick: heart-melting here, empowering there. That's never more true than on "When We Were Writers" (which stuns with melodies that recall both George Harrison and the Girls' own "Galileo") and the beautiful, bittersweet "Country Radio," about being young and gay in s small town: "I want to be that boy/I want to be that girl/I want to know what it's like to fall in love like most of the rest of the world."

Ulrich Schnauss releases a career spanning retrospective seven CD box set. Ulrich has taken the opportunity to remaster his entire back catalogue to be released on his own Scripted Realities label. "The two most recent of the albums, ‘A Long Way To Fall’ and ‘No Further Ahead Than Today’ have both been extensively reworked. The set also contains an 18-track compilation of outtakes, demos and fragments, including a cover version of Scott Walker’s ‘It’s Raining Today’ and Ulrich’s version of Bach’s ‘Prelude And Fugue No1 in C Major’, with 14 of the 18 tracks being unreleased. Each album’s artwork has also been refreshed. This release makes Ulrich’s music available again after an 18-month period. On the title track that opens Badly Drawn Boy’s ninth studio album (and first in eight years), Damon Gough is getting back up and he’s ready to move on. “It’s time to break free from this plaster cast/And leave your past behind,” the English singer-songwriter rejoices over horn-filled funk, returning to the genre-bending experiments of 2000’s Mercury Prize-winning The Hour of Bewilderbeast and 2002’s Have You Fed the Fish. Gough, who went through an extended bout of soul-searching during his absence, exudes marital bliss on "I Need Someone to Trust" and "Fly on the Wall," taking a more pop-minded bent even as his penchant for chamber music remains present. The loose-limbed “Is This a Dream?” and “Colours” carry a celebratory tone, where he acknowledges his past mistakes as he recollects his thoughts. Even the more subdued moments, like the bossa-nova-tinged “You and Me Against the World,” play with a slow rhythmic groove as Gough opens his heart: “I feel so vulnerable/I want to be/Only in love.”
