Shakespearean Dramas
#1
I've read this much so far:
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • Julius Caesar
  • Macbeth
  • King Lear
  • Hamlet
But most of these are tragedies and the school system that governs what we learned in secondary school is too 2D-ish and will not teach comedies. I want to read one.

Which one do you recommend, and don't spare the keyboard!

Midsummer Nights Dream?

Seriously though.
Shakespeare is written in a kind of Middle English for a culture vastly different than our own. Most of the allusions necessary for a good comedy eare easily missed, so a heavily annotated edition would be needed.

For classics, I think Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain are far superior to Shakespeare. Voltaire and Swift deserve honorable mention.
