I dont even know if this is at all possible, but i'm going to put it out there anyway. Everyone hates it when someone downloads and does not seed, so i say we make some form of ranking system based on how much data you have seeded. I'm only basing the possibility of the on the fact that the pirate bay can detect how many seeders and leechers, i dont actually know if can measure the data amount. Feel free to tell me this isnt possible, and that im an idiot.

TPB has no idea who is connected to any swarm, much less how much they have downloaded or uploaded.
Even if it knew this information, it would never implement such a system. We leave that kind of thinking to the private trackers.

Edit Reason: Grammar: Double words.

Long ago it was a trend, but looks like the idea was abandoned due being easy to fake or bypass.
Anyway, different clients and trackers would have to take on it the same way (and tell only the truth) for this to work.
People enjoy to download but many can't afford to keep them all up to 100% seed, or the PC running 24h/day; also fake/poor quality torrents are deleted as soon the user notices it; such things will lower users' ratings and while some sites tolerate it, others will ban users promptly.
Torrent world is chaotic as much as the real world is. Different criteria, algorithms, etc. So I guess it will not work until an improved system come up.

If the torrent is good, mostly it will be seeded by enough users to keep it alive.
That's good motivation for the uploaders to not upload crap because it will naturally die (like my poor "Collection" torrents [*] when I started)

Creating another algorithm would probably do more harm than good in the long run. Let's just leave it to the old protocol.
