I've noticed for a while now that the site doesn't seem to report seeders as well as it did around 2014. Just wondering what the deal with that is.

As you say, it has been the way it is for a very long time. It's something Winston, the site operator, has chosen to let slide for reasons he has never explained.
And I really do mean never explained, not even to staff. There are various theories floating around but they are ALL mere speculation.
