The installer exe file content can be extracted using https://github.com/lazyhamster/Observer (this tool is console-only)
This method should work for all of the installation files provided by Run8 (main installer, routes and trains) no matter if protected by transaction id or not.

1. Download and unpack FAR
   
2. Download Observer and put it into the Plugins directory of FAR
   
3. Open FAR, navigate to r8v2_wellcars40_03.exe (do not run the installer)
   
4. Press F11 (Plugins), select Observer, select Open file
   
5. Contents of the installer exe file are shown
   
6. Navigate to %AppFolder%, select Content
   
7. Press F5 Copy
   
8. Enter Run8 v3 installation folder, for example C:\Run8Studios\Run8 Train Simulator V3\
   
9. Press Extract
   
10. Run the Run8 v3 main installer to convert v2 addon to v3
